The office of the Head Public Prosecutor is
composed of: the Attorney General, president,
and two of the head of municipalities assisted
by a number of administrative employees.
It has jurisdiction over the general supervision
of the municipalities' work and organizes the
work between them ensuring its smooth running.
This jurisdiction comprises:

Examination and study of the cases involving
as penalty, the capital punishment or life
imprisonment after termination of the
investigation and before referral to court.

Ratification of the orders of nonsuit of the
criminal case in felonies, review of the
pleadings of non-jurisdiction and the
misdemeanor cases that were filed on grounds
of unimportance before notifying the parties
by the investigating member of the
prosecution.

Studying the cases related to accidents of
air or sea vessels before starting the
investigation.

Studying the cases concerning crimes
committed in a foreign country, in which a
State national or naturalized person is
accused, and deciding to take the necessary
measures.

Supervision of the requests for judicial
delegation of powers, international judicial
assistance and surrendering criminals to
other states.

Supervision of the extradition files (cases
where the wanted persons are outside the
country) in case an international arrest
warrant has been issued by the public
prosecution against the wanted person or if
they have been sentenced by a court in the
Emirate.

Examination of the complaints submitted
against members of the legal profession,
members of the diplomatic or consular corps
or those of the same status, as well as
complaints against a member in the National
Council, ministers, directors of local
administrations, police officers, a member
of the armed forces, physicians or members
of the press, in the performance of their
duties.
