Dubai Public Prosecution was set up according to Law No. (8/1992) which also detailed its legal role in accordance with Federal Law No. (35) of the same year regarding penal procedures and its amendments. Since its inception, the Public Prosecution has been playing a pioneering role in Dubai ensuring justice and the protection of rights and freedoms. It represents the link between the two litigant parties, through conducting intelligent and comprehensive investigations, and the preparation of memorandums in criminal, traffic and immigration claims.

The Public Prosecution seeks to:

- Gain community confidence in all its diversities

with a public prosecution system that is modern, effective and fair. Through it, the Public Prosecution performs its legal role in investigation, filing charges and the initiation of litigation, in addition to international judicial cooperation and the protection of government and public interests.

- Enhance the comprehensive look of the judicial, executive and legislative authorities as integrated components in the implementation of Dubai plan towards protecting rights and freedoms, spreading tranquility and facilitating litigation and developing and speeding up its procedures.

- Protect the rights of both parties of the litigation, on the basis of innocence unless convicted.

- Address society structure with focus on families being the basis for a sound community and we treat juvenile cases with care and attention.

- Benefit from international experiences and achievements to use them as incentives for creativity and excellence.

- Create our corporate identity that can best

Dubai Public Prosecution is establishing proper means to handle its responsibility towards the society. It is a responsibility triggered by law, yet, creativity shall distinguish our corporate social initiatives as we emphasize on the value of legal awareness as a preventative tool from crime.

The Dubai Legal Magazine is our first product towards developing a legal library in every house and organization in Dubai.

We believe that effective legal knowledge transfer and legal awareness starts with education. Our “Traffic awareness program” is only a start as we have managed through our effective alliance with the Higher Colleges of Technology an accreditation of the program which was attended by over than Seven Hundred men students and about Five Hunderd women students.

As a result of its enthusiasm and drive towards continual improvement, Dubai Public Prosecution was awarded, by Dubai Excellence Program, the award for the «Best developed government department in 2001»
